Bio
Matthew French is the head coach for men’s and women’s track & field (2012-present) and cross country/half-marathon (2014-present). During his fifteen-plus years of coaching at Suffolk, these programs and their coaching staff have guided several student-athletes to the NJCAA titles of National Champion and All-American. The last four academic years (2011-2015) garnered fourteen individual national titles and fifty-six All-American honors. French was Region XV Cross Country Coach of the Year for both men and women in 2015. In 2007, he was the assistant coach to the women's cross country NJCAA national champions.
French is a Professional Assistant for the Physical Education Department at the Ammerman Campus. He was a national-caliber junior-college athlete and member of the 1985 Region XV championship cross country team at Suffolk, as well as an All-County runner at Longwood High School. French received his BA in English from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he was a member of the Salukis' NCAA Division I cross country team.
