Thank you for inquiring about the Suffolk County Community College Dance Team.
Suffolk Dance Team can be seen supporting Suffolk CC Men's and Women's Basketball. The team also participates in many charitable events. Competition will be based on team eligibility, skill level and commitment. We're hoping to compete nationally for the first time.
As student-athletes, Suffolk Dancers must balance school and an active dance schedule. Dancers must be full-time students and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Our practice schedule is on Mondays 5:00-7:00pm & Thursdays 7:00-9:00pm throughout the season. Games are played in the evenings during the week and in the afternoon during the weekends. Please take this into consideration when scheduling classes and work schedules. Be sure that you have a flexible work schedule in order to participate on this team.
Prior to trying-out, you must sign the liability waiver form. If you're under 18, it must be signed by a parent or guardian. Please be sure to bring this form to try-outs.
Once selected for the team you must also have medical clearance from your doctor. You can find these physical forms on the college website http://www.sunysuffolkathletics.com/information/forms/index Print out both forms. Have your doctor fill out the physical form, this form must be signed and stamped by your doctor and you will fill out the questionnaire. Return all completed forms to Coach Caputo.
During tryouts, the coaches will determine each dancer's skill level, sportsmanship, leadership abilities, and crowd presence. Selection of dancers is based upon the sole discretion of the coaches. Please prepare a 30 second jazz, hip hop or contemporary solo that best displays your talent.
Dance candidates should have dance performance experience and possess strong jazz and hip hop skills. Please contact Coach Caputo if you are interested in trying-out along with information about your dance experience.
