XC's Joe Varca is Region XV Athlete of the Month
Freshman was both All-American and All-Region.

Joseph Varca capped his 2016 cross country season strong at the NJCAA DIII National Championship on November 12, placing 9th overall out of 182 runners with a time of 29:43.1 for the 8K course. As first-man on his team, he led Suffolk CC to the school's best-ever 2nd place team finish. The freshman crossed the finish line as the top-Region XV finisher and was named a 2nd-Team All-American.
The previous weekend, Varca prefaced his Nationals run with an All-Region 2nd place finish at the NJCAA DIII Region XV Championships on November 5th, covering the 8K course in 28:59.3, helping his Sharks to a team title.
