Region XV play underway

3-time defending Region XV Champion Suffolk opened up region play last week in impressive fashion beating rival Nassau by scores of 24-1, 23-3 and 21-2. There was plenty of offense to go around as every member of the Sharks had a hit in the opener. Karisa Lawrence went the distance scattering 4 hits to go along with 10 strikeouts.

The weekend came and the Sharks traveled to Nassau and the results were more of the same. 8 Sharks hit home runs in the double header. In game 1 Alena Thompson hit a grand slam to go with her 6 for 6 outing. Gianna Venuti, Sabrina Burrus, Delaney Kane, Dina Kessinger and Summer Roos all had 3 hits. Heather Cicinnati was 5 for 6 with 4 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Hannah Longboat pitched a complete game for her 1st collegiate win.

Game 2 was more of the same for the Sharks, Jessica Laguerra, Sabrina Burrus, Chloe Johnston and Dina Kessinger all had 3 hits and Laguerra had 5 RBIs. Heather Cicinnati was 4 for 5 with a home run. Karisa Lawrence went the distance once again giving up 4 hits to go along with 11 strikeouts.
